Wessex Storm 2020: Part 2

The main TestEx is now in full swing and the number of people on the ground is massive, I’ve not seen this many OM’s appear since that lad in the block drew a pentagram on the floor with brews on each corner and a plate of hobnobs in the middle!

Special orders given and we’re sent out on the ground in a covert role to cause free play carnage in small teams and it works, we bring the AO almost to a standstill downing vehicles on junctions wherever we can, shoot and scoot, the OpFor are not happy but we’re still dry!!

The weather takes a turn, it was expected, it is seriously honking out here and after quite an epic 6 hour battle, hats off to their snipers btw, the Poachers have extracted from the village and we’re stood piss wrapped to the bone in the hanger at Copehill Down wondering why we’re just stood piss wrapped to the bone in the hanger in Copehill Down!

The ex is moving faster now, more locations more fire fights, drills are coming together and teams are bonding well. My old OC was captured only to notice his Poacher capter was wearing one of our Mohawks, to which he explained the guy who made that is literally hunting you on this ex, apparently this was awesome! Glad you like it mate!

In a separate moment, some men are just made different, I know a man like this who again proved hes still a legend. Sent out on the ground to be captured and test their CPERs process, he rocks back up at camp in a vehicle with 5x POW’s from the apposing force… LEGEND!!

Into the final attack and Imber will be the grounds, defences are in place, so much razor wire…, patrols are out, sentries are set, gmpy link in multiple locations and we wait…

Smoolies light the sky at dawn, mortars incoming and its begun….

We smash them at start, beating them back from the break in and refusing to let them establish a foothold for over an hour but smoke trumps TES and eventually in they came with dismounts and jackals, in also came in our Warriors and suddenly out went their jackals and lots of their troops! 4 hours later and it’s still raging back and forth, rains in again and its 50/50 on the ground with downed vehicles, building to building firefights, pyro and brass everywhere when the stop stop stop is called. It‘s done, we’re all pissed wrapped again, blowing and half deaf! Oh and as a treat we get to clean the village… fantastic…

All in all it was a good TestEx on retrospect, honking at the time but some good drills and good cooperation between the trades shown. The AAR will show more detail and hopefully have a hot brew locally, I wonder where I rank in kills?!?

As for V Tactical, all our kit showed its usability and strength in the field, again proving its moto “designed by those fighting on the ground for those fighting on the ground” to be true to its word!

Standby for new kit reviews incoming from Wessex Storm 2020!
